AST Weld-in Roll Cage Nissan 280Z S30 Coupé V4

The Weld-in 280Z Coupé V4 is a full roll cage for the Nissan 280Z with the S30 chassis in 3-door coupé bodywork, permanently welded in at eight points. On top of the door bars and the front reinforcement, this specification level adds an extra diagonal brace and a harness bar.

The harness bar gives the shoulder straps of a multi-point harness a mounting point at the prescribed height. Combined with the welded-in construction, this results in a structure that meets the requirements of serious competition classes. Built to FIA Appendix J.

Fitting and delivery

The delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. The interior has to come out completely before any welding can be done, including the dashboard, trim and door cards. Expect a longer fitting job than with the lower versions, as more tubes need to be fitted and welded in. AST supplies the tubes custom-bent based on a laser scan of the bodyshell.

At this level, the weight difference compared with the bolt-in versions is at its most striking: the same bar layout, but 71 kg instead of 210 kg. For a car weighing around a thousand kilos, that is no minor detail. In return, you give up the option of removing the cage, which is rarely a drawback for a dedicated competition car.
