Description
AST Bolt-in Roll Cage Nissan Skyline R32 Coupé V1
The AST Bolt-in Roll Cage Nissan Skyline R32 Coupé V1 is a full roll cage for the Nissan Skyline R32 with two-door coupé body, bolted in on six points. This Bolt-in Roll Cage R32 V1 is supplied in sections with FIA sleeve connections and assembled in the car, so it can come out again later.
The difference with the lighter bolted range lies in the build: here AST uses FIA sleeve connections and a heavier construction. In addition, the structure runs through to the rear suspension area, whereas the light range stops at the wheel arch.
Key benefits
- Removable: the cage comes in sections and can come out again via the FIA sleeve connections.
- FIA sleeve connections: heavier than the regular sleeve connections of the light range.
- Anchored further back: to the rear suspension area instead of the wheel arch.
- Six bolt points: bolted to six base plates that are welded to the body.
- Entry to the bolt-in range: the simplest of the four bolt-in versions.
- E355 steel: 45 mm diameter main hoop, 40 mm for the rest of the structure.
- Custom base plates: 3 mm thick steel, designed per car rather than universal.
- Complete kit: supplied unpainted with fixings, documentation, installation manual and sticker set.

- Nissan Skyline R32 Coupé, including GT-R and GTS-t

Installation and delivery
The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. The six base plates are welded to the body, after which the cage is assembled in sections and bolted in. So welding is still required, but it is considerably less work than a complete weld-in cage. On an R32, check beforehand that the mounting areas are free of rust, especially around the rear wheel arches. Re-tighten the bolted joints after the first drives and regularly after that, because a bolt that has vibrated loose takes the strength out of the structure. This cage is intended for circuit and competition use; check the regulations of your own motorsport organisation beforehand.
Six bolt points and FIA sleeve connections: a complete cage that can simply come out again via the sleeves.
Why choose this Bolt-in Roll Cage R32 V1?
A good R32 is worth serious money these days, and not everyone wants to weld in a cage that will never come out again. This version gives you a full structure with FIA sleeve connections, while the car can be returned to its original condition with some work. The fact that the cage comes in sections also makes installation a lot easier.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference with the removable full roll cage?
Both are bolted in on six points, but this Bolt-in Roll Cage R32 V1 uses FIA sleeve connections, is built heavier and runs through to the rear suspension area.
Is bolt-in as strong as a weld-in cage?
A well-executed bolt-in cage is strong, but a weld-in cage spreads the forces over the whole body instead of over six points. With bolt-in you also have to keep checking the bolted joints.
Can I race with a bolt-in cage?
That depends on your class and your motorsport organisation. Some regulations require a welded cage. Check this before you order.
Does it fit a GT-R?
Yes, as long as it is a coupé. The cage sits in the interior and has nothing to do with the four-wheel drive.
What is the delivery time?
The standard delivery time for this roll cage is 15 to 35 working days, because AST builds every cage to order.
