Description
BC Racing ZR coilover kit BMW M3 E46 Coupe camber/caster top mounts (00-06) 8/12 kg/mm
The BC Racing ZR coilover kit E46 M3 (part number I-14-ZR) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW E46 M3 Coupe, model years 2000 to 2006. The spring rate is 8 kg/mm front and 12 kg/mm rear.
The ZR is BC Racing’s 3-way competition series, developed for competitive motorsport. Each damper has a double piston and an external reservoir that you can mount on the chassis or on the damper body, connected with braided steel lines.
On the MacPherson front axle BC Racing uses an inverted monotube, on a double wishbone suspension an upright monotube. The damping is 3-way: 20 clicks of low-speed compression, 12 clicks of high-speed compression and 30 clicks of rebound, with synthetic oil and a digressive character.
For the M3 Coupe, the ZR comes with camber/caster top mounts at the front and stiff 8/12 kg/mm springs. You set the ride height completely independently of the spring preload.
Key benefits
- 3-way adjustment: low- and high-speed compression and rebound each separately.
- External reservoir positioned as you choose: on the chassis or on the damper body.
- Braided steel lines: between damper and reservoir.
- Double piston: for a finely adjustable damping curve.
- Inverted monotube on MacPherson: stiff front struts under high cornering loads.
- Ride height fully independent of spring preload: low without losing travel.
- Camber/caster top mounts at the front: standard in this M3 Coupe kit.
- Spring rate 8/12 kg/mm: stiffer springs than the 6/9 kg/mm of the BR, DS, RM and ZX for the M3 Coupe.
- Rebuildable: built for seasons of racing.

Fitting and delivery
Before fitting, decide where you want the reservoirs, on the chassis or on the damper body, and route the braided steel lines so that they stay clear during compression, extension and steering. Then set the ride height and have the M3 aligned, with the camber/caster top mounts giving the alignment technician room to adjust. BC Racing advises periodic greasing of the ZR series and recommends it less for road use than the BR, DS, ER or ZX. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If it is out of stock, you can still order and we will keep you informed.
The ZR is what BC Racing itself intends for competition: three adjustments, a freely positionable reservoir and a ride height that is completely independent of the springs.
Why choose this ZR coilover kit E46 M3?
Because in competition you have no time for compromises. With three separate adjustments you tune the M3 to every circuit and every type of weather, and the stiff 8/12 kg/mm springs keep the car flat at high speed. This is the kit for anyone who really uses the M3 Coupe as a race car.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the BC Racing ZR and ZX for the E46 M3 Coupe?
The ZR coilover kit E46 M3 uses an inverted damper on MacPherson and lets you place the reservoir on the chassis or on the damper body; the ZX is an upright monotube that combines the DS and ER. Both are 3-way with the same click distribution.
Is the BC Racing ZR coilover kit for the E46 M3 suitable for daily use?
No, the ZR is developed for competitive motorsport. If you mainly drive on the road with the occasional track day, a BR or DS is a better fit.
What is the delivery time of this BC Racing ZR coilover kit?
The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. You can also order when it is out of stock; we will then let you know when it comes in.
Delivery outside the European Union: different shipping costs may apply. Don’t worry: we will email you as soon as possible after your order and agree the shipping with you. You are not committed to anything without your consent.
