Description
BMW E46 M3 Convertible (00-06) BC Racing ER coilover kit 6/9 kg/mm
The BC Racing ER coilover kit E46 M3 Convertible (part number I-121-ER) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW E46 M3 Convertible, model years 2000 to 2006. The spring rate is 6 kg/mm front and 9 kg/mm rear.
This kit is 2-way adjustable and has an external reservoir. At BC Racing, the ER series is intended for serious track and competition use.
The monotube dampers have a dual piston and an external reservoir. You adjust compression and rebound independently of each other, each in 30 clicks. The damping character is digressive and the dampers are filled with fully synthetic oil with an ultra-high viscosity index.
For the M3 Convertible this kit has its own part number and a spring rate of 6/9 kg/mm. The ride height is infinitely adjustable via the damper body, and a concave lock ring holds that setting in place.
Key benefits
- Compression and rebound separately adjustable: 30 clicks each.
- External reservoir: more oil volume, fewer heat problems.
- Dual piston: the technical basis of the ER series.
- Digressive character: chassis control at slow movements.
- Fully synthetic oil: with an ultra-high viscosity index.
- Camber plates on suitable kits: rubber top mounts optional.
- Convertible-specific part number: I-121-ER.
- Spring rate 6/9 kg/mm: front/rear.

Fitting and delivery
Before you start, decide where the reservoirs will go, and after fitting check that they do not touch anything at full compression or at full steering lock. Then set the M3 Convertible to height and have a wheel alignment done. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If the manufacturer does not have it in stock, you can still order and we will keep you informed of the date.
Adjusting compression and rebound separately: that is what makes an M3 Convertible predictable and fast on the circuit.
Why choose this ER coilover kit E46 M3 Convertible?
Because 2-way adjustment lets you solve what remains a compromise with a 1-way kit. If you want the car to rebound faster without making it harder in compression, you can. For an M3 Convertible that often goes on track, the ER is a sensible choice, one step below the 3-way kits.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the BC Racing ER and ZX for the E46 M3 Convertible?
The difference lies in the compression adjustment: the ER coilover kit E46 M3 Convertible is 2-way with separate compression and rebound, the ZX is 3-way. The ZX also splits the compression into low and high speed, and adds the digressive base of the DS.
What do you control with the rebound adjustment of the BC Racing ER?
With the rebound you control how quickly the damper extends again after a bump or after braking. Too little rebound makes the car unsettled, too much lets the wheels lift off.
What is the delivery time of this BC Racing ER coilover kit?
The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. Without stock you can still order and we will let you know when it arrives.
