The BC Racing BR coilover kit E30 45mm True Rear (part number I-33-BR-RH) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 3 Series E30 Sedan with 45 mm front struts, model years 1982 to 1991, in True Rear version and in BC Racing’s weld-in version, which requires welding for fitting. The spring rate is 5.5 kg/mm front and 5 kg/mm rear.

This BC Racing kit is intended for an E30 Sedan with 45 mm front struts on which you also want to fit the rear with a complete strut. From the factory, the spring and damper at the rear are separate from each other; with True Rear the spring sits around the damper, just like at the front.

BC Racing uses the BR series here, the all-rounder with linear monotube dampers, 30 clicks of damping adjustment and a ride height that is set independently of the spring preload. There are pillowball top mounts or camber plates front and rear. Fitting requires welding, because it is a weld-in kit, and BC Racing specifies a reinforced body shell; have this carried out by a specialist.

Fitting and delivery

At the front the original struts are replaced, at the rear the separate springs and dampers. Because it is a weld-in kit, welding by a specialist is required for fitting. Please note: BC Racing specifies that the body shell must be reinforced before fitting a True Rear kit. Set the ride height first and then have the wheel alignment done, because camber and toe change as well. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. The BR coilover kit E30 45mm True Rear has a linear piston for road use with the occasional track day, the DS version (I-33-DS-DH) a digressive piston that is more track-oriented. Spring rate (5.5/5 kg/mm), 30 clicks and pillowball top mounts front and rear are the same on both.
