This big brake kit Polo 6KV from V-Maxx is intended for the Volkswagen Polo Classic and Polo Variant (6KV) with PCD 4×100. You replace the original front brakes with 290 mm two-piece brake discs and 4-piston calipers made of forged aluminium, and the kit already fits behind 15 inch wheels.

The kit is suitable for versions from 40 to 81 kW with original rear disc or drum brakes; for the Polo Variant 1.6 and 1.9TDi, additional VIN conditions apply.

V-Maxx Autosport is a Dutch manufacturer and supplies the kit with sport brake pads with TÜV approval, vehicle-specific adapters and a TÜV certificate according to §19.3 for public roads.

Fitting and delivery

Fit the kit according to the V-Maxx fitting instructions supplied. The big brake kit Polo 6KV only fits cars with original steering knuckles; if the original knuckle is not suitable, choose 20 VW290 06+AD. Do not use wheel cleaner, as it attacks the aluminium; clean with mild soap. For heavy track use, V-Maxx recommends removing the dust seals from the calipers.

As options, V-Maxx Steelflex brake hoses 460 mm (set of 2) with PTFE inner hose and TÜV approval are available, as are Ferodo brake fluid (500 ml) and a V-Maxx wear indicator set. Delivery time: 4 to 7 days.

Frequently asked questions

Which version do I need, with or without knuckles?

Check beforehand which steering knuckle is fitted to the car. If the original knuckle is suitable, this big brake kit Polo 6KV (20 VW290 06) fits. If not, choose 20 VW290 06+AD: it is supplied including new steering knuckles, wheel bearings and wheel hubs.

What do the VINs in the application list mean?

They only apply to the Polo Variant 1.6 and 1.9TDi with original rear drum brakes: the list distinguishes VINs up to 6K-X-609 999 and from 6K-X-610 000. Check the VIN before you order.

Is the big brake kit Polo 6KV suitable for a car with more power than standard?

Yes, definitely. A Polo with more power than standard benefits most from this kit: 290 mm discs and 4-piston calipers give more braking power and much less fade. The kW limits in the application list refer to the original factory output, and with an officially approved power upgrade the TÜV approval remains valid.
