The big brake kit A3 8V with part number 20 AU330 10 is the V-Maxx brake kit for the third-generation Audi A3 with a steel knuckle. The kit replaces the front brakes with 330 mm two-piece brake discs and 4-piston calipers made of forged aluminium, and fits the A3, Sportback, Saloon and Convertible.

For the A3 8V, V-Maxx supplies two 330 mm kits, because the 8V was built with different steering knuckles. This version is for cars with a steel knuckle and a Ø50 mm shock absorber clamp. If your car has an aluminium knuckle, the 20 AU330 11 is the right kit.

The kit gives more braking torque, cools down quickly thanks to the aluminium caliper, bracket and bell, and has a TÜV certificate according to §19.3 for public roads. V-Maxx Autosport is a Dutch manufacturer and gives a 2-year warranty.

Fitting and delivery

Fit the kit according to the V-Maxx fitting instructions you receive with the kit, including the tightening torques. The kit is only intended for cars with original steering knuckles, in this case the steel knuckle. For cleaning, use a mild soap, as wheel cleaner attacks the aluminium. For heavy track use, V-Maxx recommends removing the dust seals from the calipers.

Options: V-Maxx Steelflex steel braided brake hoses for the front axle (620 mm, set of 2) with PTFE inner hose and TÜV approval, 500 ml of Ferodo brake fluid, a V-Maxx wear indicator set, a different caliper colour at extra cost and an extra set of Ferodo FDSR216 DS Performance brake pads without TÜV approval. Why do the brake pads click when I change between driving forwards and reversing?

V-Maxx deliberately gives the pads 1 to 1.5 mm of play so that they do not seize at high temperatures. That short click is therefore normal.
