Seat Leon 5F V-Maxx Big Brake Kit 355 mm 6-piston

The big brake kit Leon 5F 355 mm from V-Maxx is a performance brake kit for the front axle of the Seat Leon 5F with 355 mm two-piece brake discs and 6-piston calipers made of forged aluminium.

This kit is intended for the Leon 5F with aluminium steering knuckles, Ø55 mm front shock absorbers and an output of 77 to 228 kW. If you use the car on the track, you benefit from the way this kit handles heat: the caliper, bracket and bell are made of aluminium, which conducts heat about five times better than steel, and the grooved discs have directional cooling channels. As a result, the braking performance stays consistent under repeated hard braking.

V-Maxx supplies the kit ready to fit with sport brake pads with TÜV approval and vehicle-specific adapters for the original rubber brake hoses. Thanks to the TÜV certificate according to §19.3, the kit is approved for use on public roads, and the Dutch manufacturer gives a 2-year warranty.

Fitting and delivery

Fit the big brake kit Leon 5F 355 mm according to the V-Maxx fitting instructions supplied. The kit only fits cars with original steering knuckles, here the aluminium knuckle with Ø55 mm clamp. Clean the brake kit with mild soap; wheel cleaner attacks the aluminium and is therefore not suitable. For heavy track use, V-Maxx recommends removing the dust seals from the calipers.

V-Maxx Steelflex steel braided brake hoses for the front axle (620 mm, set of 2) with PTFE inner hose and TÜV approval are available as an option, as are Ferodo Super Formula brake fluid (500 ml) and a V-Maxx wear indicator set. Delivery time: 4 to 7 days.

For a Leon 5F with up to 228 kW that has to keep braking consistently on the track, 355 mm discs and six pistons per caliper are the logical step.

What is the difference between the 355 and 365 mm kits for the Leon 5F?

Both have 6-piston calipers and the same application. The big brake kit Leon 5F 355 mm fits wheels from 18 inch; the 365 mm kit (20 SE365 01) has a larger disc and requires at least 19 inch.

Does the kit fit every Leon 5F?

No. The kit fits the Leon 5F with aluminium steering knuckle and Ø55 mm shock absorber clamp, from 77 to 228 kW and with original brake discs of at least Ø288 mm at the front and Ø271 mm at the rear. For the steel knuckle with Ø50 mm clamp, V-Maxx offers the 330 mm kit 20 SE330 10; for the aluminium knuckle there is also the 330 mm kit 20 SE330 11.

Can I use this kit on public roads?

Yes. Thanks to the TÜV certificate according to §19.3, the kit is approved for use on public roads, even if the car has an officially approved power upgrade. The kW limits in the application list refer to the original output.

Is it normal for the brake pads to click?

Yes. The pads deliberately have 1 to 1.5 mm of play so they do not seize when hot. As a result, you hear a short click when you change between driving forwards and reversing.
