For the first-generation Hyundai i20 (PB/PBT), the big brake kit i20 PB 290 mm from V-Maxx is the compact choice: a complete front brake kit with 290 mm brake discs and 4-piston calipers made of forged aluminium, which can be combined with wheels from 15 inch. The kit is suitable for model years 08-2008 to 10-2014.

The discs are two-piece and grooved, made of high-carbon steel on ultra-light floating aluminium bells. Because the caliper and bracket are also made of aluminium, and aluminium conducts heat about 5 times better than steel, the kit cools down quickly after hard braking. At a track day, you notice this in consistent braking and much less fade.

The kit is ready to fit: V-Maxx sport brake pads with TÜV approval and vehicle-specific adapters for the original rubber brake hoses are included. V-Maxx Autosport from the Netherlands gives a 2-year warranty, and the TÜV certificate according to §19.3 means the kit is approved for use on public roads.

Fitting and delivery

When fitting, follow the V-Maxx fitting instructions supplied with the kit. The big brake kit i20 PB 290 mm is intended for an i20 with the original steering knuckles. Do not use wheel cleaner on the brake kit, as it attacks the aluminium; mild soap is sufficient. V-Maxx advises removing the dust seals from the calipers if the car is used hard on the track.

Optionally available: V-Maxx Steelflex steel braided brake hoses for the front axle (500 mm, set of 2) with PTFE inner hose and TÜV approval, 500 ml of Ferodo brake fluid and the V-Maxx wear indicator set. Delivery time: 4 to 7 days.

There are two V-Maxx kits for the i20 (PB/PBT). This big brake kit i20 PB 290 mm (20 HY290 03) requires wheels of at least 15 inch. Kit 20 HY330 03 has 330 mm discs and requires at least 17 inch. In both cases, check the fitment with the fitment template (WFC).

Is the clicking of the pads normal?

Yes. The pads deliberately have 1 to 1.5 mm of play in the caliper so they do not seize when hot. As a result, you hear a click when the direction of travel changes.
