The big brake kit TT 8S with part number 20 AU330 14 is the V-Maxx brake kit for the third-generation Audi TT with a steel steering knuckle. On the front axle, you get 330 mm two-piece brake discs and 4-piston calipers made of forged aluminium, for the TT Coupé and the TT Roadster from 132 to 169 kW, also with Quattro.

The TT 8S was supplied with either a steel or an aluminium steering knuckle, and the brake kit has to match it. This version is for cars with a steel knuckle and a Ø50 mm shock absorber clamp; for the aluminium knuckle, there is the 20 AU330 12. With the right kit, you get more braking torque and a brake system that dissipates heat quickly via the aluminium caliper, bracket and bell.

V-Maxx Autosport is a Dutch manufacturer and gives a 2-year warranty. The kit has a TÜV certificate according to §19.3 for use on public roads.

Fitting and delivery

Fit the kit according to the V-Maxx fitting instructions supplied, including the tightening torques. The kit is only intended for cars with original steering knuckles, in this case the steel knuckle with Ø50 mm clamp. Clean the brake kit with mild soap, as wheel cleaner attacks the aluminium. For heavy track use, V-Maxx recommends removing the dust seals from the calipers.

You can extend the kit with V-Maxx Steelflex steel braided brake hoses for the front axle (620 mm, set of 2) with PTFE inner hose and TÜV approval, Ferodo brake fluid (500 ml), a V-Maxx wear indicator set, a different caliper colour (black, blue or yellow at extra cost) and an extra set of Ferodo FDSR216 DS Performance brake pads without TÜV approval. Delivery time: 4 to 7 days.

Which V-Maxx kit fits my TT 8S?

That depends on the steering knuckle. The big brake kit TT 8S (20 AU330 14) is for cars with a steel steering knuckle and a Ø50 mm shock absorber clamp. If your TT has an aluminium knuckle with a Ø55 mm clamp, you need the 20 AU330 12. Both kits have 330 mm discs and 4-piston calipers.

Is it normal for the brake pads to click?

Yes. The pads deliberately have 1 to 1.5 mm of play so they do not seize at high temperatures. As a result, you hear a short click when you change between driving forwards and reversing.

Can I use the big brake kit TT 8S on public roads?

Yes. The kit has a TÜV certificate according to §19.3. That approval also remains valid with an officially approved power upgrade, because the kW limits refer to the original output.
