BMW E36 M43 Air Filter Kit with Adapter – TA Technix

With this E36 M43 air filter kit from TA Technix (part number 90BM031) you fit an open sports air filter directly to the mass airflow sensor of your BMW E36 318i with M43 or M44 engine, or your 318ti Compact. The kit consists of an adapter from a round 70 mm connection to a square 100 x 70 mm flange, a red conical sports air filter with hose clamp and three adapter rings.

The open filter replaces the original air filter housing. This gives free airflow, a sporty intake sound and a clean look under the bonnet. Does your E36 still have an M40 or M42 engine? Then choose the TA Technix sports air filter with adapter for the M40 and M42 (90BM001).

Fitting and delivery

The adapter fits onto the square connection of the mass airflow sensor, in place of the original air filter housing. You then fit the sports air filter with the matching adapter ring onto the round side and secure it with the hose clamp. This sports air filter is supplied without a test certificate and is not permitted under the German StVZO, so it is not road legal in Germany. Delivery time is 4 to 7 days.

No. This E36 M43 air filter kit is for the 318i with M43 or M44 and the 318ti Compact. For the M40 and M42 there is the TA Technix sports air filter with adapter 90BM001.

Does it also fit an E36 316i with M43?

TA Technix lists the 318i with M43 or M44 and the 318ti Compact for the E36. The 316i is not on the list. If you have a 316i, please contact us and we will check it with you.

Is it road legal?

Not in Germany: the kit has no approval and is not permitted under the StVZO. It is intended for sport and track use. Please check the rules in your own country.
