This E39 front splitter is an aluminium splitter for the M Package front bumper of the BMW 5 Series E39. You fit it underneath against the bumper, after which the big BMW gets a race look and visually sits closer to the tarmac.

Installation and delivery

The E39 front splitter is fitted underneath against the front bumper. The splitter already has small mounting holes along the rear edge; mounting hardware and fitting instructions are not specified. In practice, you hold it in place, make sure it sticks out equally far on both sides and mark the mounting points on the edge of the bumper. Drill the holes and secure the splitter with your own bolts, wide washers and lock nuts. Wide washers prevent the plastic of the bumper from cracking around the holes.

If you want to paint the splitter, degrease it thoroughly and use an adhesion primer for aluminium. With a lowered E39, preferably drive over speed bumps and kerbs at an angle, so that the splitter stays clear.

A tip for anyone who also uses the E39 on track: check after every session that the fixings are still tight. Vibration and high speed can make bolts settle, and a loose splitter flapping under the car is something you want to avoid. An E39 front splitter that is securely fixed will last for years.
