The Full Roll Cage 280Z V3 is a full roll cage for the Nissan 280Z with S30 chassis and 3-door coupé bodywork, and the most comprehensively equipped version in the full cage range. On top of the front reinforcement bars of the V2, it adds door bars in the doors.

Those door bars do more than add rigidity: in a side impact, they absorb the blow before it reaches the driver. For drifting, where contact with a wall or another car can never be ruled out, that is the argument that counts.

Fitting and delivery

The delivery time is 15 to 35 working days, as AST builds every cage to order. The six foot plates are welded to the bodyshell; the structure is then bolted in place. Bear in mind that the door bars take up space inside the door, so the door cards come out for good.

Door bars are the only tubes in a cage that you hopefully never need, and that you will never want to be without.

Why choose this 280Z V3 full roll cage?

The S30 has narrow doors and little material between the driver and the outside world. This version fills that space with steel and at the same time stiffens the entire side of the bodyshell. For anyone who actually drives the car rather than polishing it, this is the version to go for within the full cage range.

Can I still fit the door cards?

Usually not. The door bars of the Full Roll Cage 280Z V3 run through the door cavity, so expect plastic door cards or none at all.

Is this a NASCAR door bar version?

No. For this model, AST supplies a single door bar per side, not a NASCAR set with several curved tubes.

Is any welding required?

Yes. The six foot plates are welded to the bodyshell, after which the cage is bolted onto them.

Is this roll cage homologated?

The manufacturer’s documentation for this item does not state a homologation number. The cage is intended for track and competition use; check the regulations of your own organiser.
