AST Removable Roll Cage BMW F20 V2

The AST Removable Roll Cage BMW F20 V2 is a full roll cage for the BMW 1 Series F20 with five-door hatchback bodywork. This removable roll cage F20 V2 extends into the front compartment: reinforcement bars running to the bulkhead are added to the base cage, and the whole assembly remains removable via connecting sleeves.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers who want a fully fledged cage but also want to be able to return the car to its original condition later on.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. The six foot plates are welded to the bodyshell; only then is the cage bolted onto them. Bear in mind that most of the interior has to come out of the car for fitting.

A full roll cage that, unlike a weld-in cage, you can take out again later.

Why choose this removable roll cage F20 V2?

A weld-in cage is permanent; this version is not. The structure is just as complete, but the connecting sleeves make it possible to take the cage back out of the F20. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that the bars to the bulkhead line up precisely. The cage is intended for track and competition use; check the regulations of your own organiser.

What does the V2 add compared with a base cage?

Alongside the main hoop and backstays, the removable roll cage F20 V2 also has front reinforcement bars running to the bulkhead, linking the cage to the front of the bodyshell.

Does this cage fit a three-door F21?

No. This cage is designed around the five-door F20. AST has a dedicated cage for the three-door F21, and the two are not interchangeable.

Is any welding still required?

Yes. The six foot plates are welded to the bodyshell. Only the cage itself is bolted in and removable.
