The AST Removable Half Roll Cage Nissan Skyline R33 Coupé V2 is a half roll cage for the rear compartment of the Nissan Skyline R33 with two-door coupé body. This Half Roll Cage R33 V2 stands on four bolt points and is supplied in sections with sleeve connections, so it can come out again later.

The R33 is bigger and heavier than its predecessor, and you feel that at the rear. This V2 builds on the V1 with extra tubing in the rear structure, so more stiffness and more protection behind your head, still without touching the front compartment.

Installation and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. The four base plates are welded to the body, then the cage is bolted onto them. On a R33 of this age, check beforehand that the mounting areas are free of rust: welding onto corroded panels gives a cage that will not do its job in a crash. The rear seat and the rear trim come out. This cage is intended for circuit and competition use; check the regulations of your own motorsport organisation beforehand.

When ordering you choose whether the cage has to suit a roof with headlining and sunroof, or a bare roof without either. That determines how closely the tubes follow the roof, so choose what matches your car.

What exactly is the choice of anchoring area?

When ordering you tell us where the cage anchors at the rear: at the wheel arch or in the rear suspension area. Both are available for this Half Roll Cage R33 V2; which one you choose depends on how your boot is laid out and what your regulations prescribe.

Does this cage also fit an R33 sedan?

No. This cage is designed for the two-door coupé. The four-door sedan has a different rear body structure.

Does it fit a GT-R?

Yes, as long as it is an R33 coupé. The cage sits in the interior and has nothing to do with the four-wheel drive of the GT-R.

Is welding required?

Yes, for the four base plates. They are welded to the body; the cage itself is then bolted onto those plates and can come out again via the sleeve connections.

Can the rear seat stay in?

No. AST does not design its half roll cages to keep the rear seat. Expect the rear seat to come out.
