The BC Racing BR coilover kit E30 51mm (part number I-07-BR-RA) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 3 Series E30 Sedan with 51 mm front struts, model years 1982 to 1991, in BC Racing’s weld-in version, which requires welding for fitting. The spring rate is 5.5 kg/mm front and 8 kg/mm rear.

With the BR series, BC Racing targets drivers who use their E30 every day and occasionally take it to a track day or autocross. Monotube dampers with a linear piston, 30-click damping adjustment and a ride height that you set via the damper body, independent of the spring preload, make the kit widely usable.

This version is for E30 Sedans with 51 mm front struts. If your car has 45 mm struts, you need the separate 45 mm kit. It is a weld-in kit, which means that welding by a specialist is required for fitting.

The kit replaces the original dampers and springs front and rear and is vehicle-specific. Because it is a weld-in kit, welding is required during fitting; that work is done by a specialist. On some cars the pillowball top mount at the front requires a small modification to the upper mounting; if in doubt, contact us. BC Racing points out that pillowball top mounts can transmit more noise than rubber top mounts. Have the wheel alignment checked once the ride height is set, because camber and toe change as well. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If BC Racing temporarily has the kit out of stock, you can still order and we will keep you informed.

The BR damps linearly and is intended for the road with the occasional track day, the DS damps digressively and is more track-focused. For the 51 mm Sedan, BC Racing offers the DS with two spring rates: 5.5/8 and 5/8 kg/mm. All three kits have 30 clicks and pillowball top mounts at the front.
