The BC Racing DS coilover kit E30 51mm 5/8 (part number I-07-DS-DA) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 3 Series E30 Sedan with 51 mm front struts, model years 1982 to 1991, in BC Racing’s weld-in version, which requires welding for fitting. The spring rate is 5 kg/mm front and 8 kg/mm rear.

The DS is the track-focused series from BC Racing: monotube dampers with a digressive piston, which damp more than a linear piston between 0 and 50 mm/s. That keeps the E30 flatter when turning in and braking, while the wheels can keep following fast bumps.

Of the two DS kits for the E30 Sedan with 51 mm front struts, this is the version with the slightly softer front spring. This kit is also weld-in: welding is required for fitting, and that work is a job for a specialist.

Fitting and delivery

The kit replaces the original dampers and springs and is made for this E30. Fitting this weld-in kit requires welding; call in a specialist for that. On some cars the pillowball top mount at the front requires a small modification to the upper mounting; if in doubt, contact us. After adjusting the height, have the wheel alignment checked; camber and toe change as well. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock.
