The BC Racing DS coilover kit E87 E82 (part number I-11-DS-DA) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 1 Series E81, E82 and E87, excluding the 1M Coupe, model years 2004 to 2013. The spring rate is 5.5 kg/mm front and 8 kg/mm rear.

The DS series is the track-focused coilover kit from BC Racing. For the 1 Series E81, E82 and E87, it is the kit for anyone who regularly does track days and simply keeps using the car on the road afterwards.

BC Racing uses a monotube damper here with a digressive piston in a satin chrome damper body. That piston damps more firmly at slow movements from 0 to 50 mm/s. You adjust the damping in 30 clicks and set the ride height independently of the spring preload.

Fitting and delivery

This vehicle-specific kit replaces the original dampers and springs. We recommend having it fitted by an experienced mechanic. On some cars the pillowball top mount at the front requires a small modification to the upper mounting; if in doubt, contact us. Afterwards, have the wheel alignment adjusted; camber and toe change along with the ride height. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If BC Racing temporarily has the kit out of stock, you can still order and we will tell you the expected delivery date.

Is the BC Racing DS coilover kit I-11 suitable for the BMW E88 Convertible?

No, BC Racing releases the I-11 kits for the E81, the E87 and the E82 Coupe, and not for the E88 Convertible. For the E88 Convertible, BC Racing has its own kit, the BR kit I-149-BR-RA. The 1M Coupe is also excluded from this kit.

What is the difference between the BC Racing DS and RM coilover kits for the BMW 1 Series E82?

The DS is track-focused but works well on the road, the RM is made for track days, hill climbs and tarmac rally. The DS coilover kit E87 E82 has a satin chrome damper body and a ride height independent of the spring preload; the RM uses fully synthetic oil and an inverted monotube on the front struts. BC Racing advises periodic greasing of the RM and recommends it less for road use.

Is noise from the BC Racing DS coilover kit for the E87 covered by the warranty?

No, noise from track use is not covered by the warranty of the DS series. There is a 1 year warranty on manufacturing defects, and the dampers are rebuildable. The kit comes with a warranty card with serial number.
