The BC Racing RM coilover kit 1M Coupe (part number I-21-RM-MA) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 1M Coupe (E82, wide body, 3.0 turbo), model years 2011 to 2012. The spring rate is 7 kg/mm front and 12 kg/mm rear.
The RM series is BC Racing’s coilover kit for track days, hill climbs and tarmac rally, and for the 1M Coupe it has its own spring rate of 7 kg/mm front and 12 kg/mm rear. This makes it slightly stiffer at the front than the BR and DS kits for the 1M (6.5 kg/mm).
On MacPherson struts BC Racing uses an inverted monotube for the RM, on other suspension types an upright monotube. The dampers have a digressive piston and fully synthetic oil with a very high viscosity index, and you adjust them in 30 clicks.

Fitting and delivery
The kit is vehicle-specific and replaces the original dampers and springs. We recommend having it fitted by an experienced mechanic. BC Racing advises periodic greasing for the RM and ZR series and recommends them less for road use than the BR, DS, ER or ZX. After setting the ride height, also have the wheel alignment readjusted, because camber and toe change as well. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. No, this kit is only for the 1M Coupe with wide body and 3.0 turbo engine (2011 to 2012). For the other E82 Coupes and the E81 and E87, BC Racing supplies the I-11 kits, including an RM version (I-11-RM-MA).
What is the difference between the BC Racing RM and DS coilover kits for the BMW 1M Coupe?
The RM is made for track days, hill climbs and tarmac rally, the DS for track use where the car is also still driven on the road. The RM coilover kit 1M Coupe has slightly stiffer front springs (7 kg/mm versus 6.5 kg/mm) and fully synthetic oil. BC Racing recommends the RM less for road use and advises periodic greasing.

Yes, the dampers can be rebuilt. After a season of intensive use, you can therefore have them rebuilt instead of replaced. Also keep in mind the periodic greasing that BC Racing advises for the RM series.
