The BC Racing ER coilover kit E36 Compact True Rear (part number I-79-ER) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 3 Series E36 Compact (E36/5), model years 1994 to 2000, in True Rear version. The spring rate is 5 kg/mm front and 5 kg/mm rear.

This kit combines 2-way adjustable dampers with external reservoirs with a complete strut at the rear. As standard, the Compact has a separate spring and a separate damper at the rear, in different places in the suspension. In this True Rear version, this is replaced by a complete coilover strut with the spring around the damper.

As a result, you adjust the rear ride height in the same way as at the front, on the strut itself, and spring and damper work on the same point at the rear. The ER series is built for serious track work and competition: you set compression and rebound separately in 30 clicks each, and the dual-piston monotube dampers with reservoir and fully synthetic oil keep the damping constant, even after long sessions.

The spring rate is 5/5 kg/mm, the same front and rear.

Fitting and delivery

When fitting, new struts go in at the front and at the rear a coilover strut replaces the separate spring and damper. Please note: BC Racing requires the body shell to be reinforced before fitting a True Rear kit. We recommend having it fitted by an experienced mechanic; route the reservoir lines so that they do not rub anywhere and have the car aligned after fitting. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If the kit is not in stock, simply order it and we will keep you informed.
