The BC Racing ZX coilover kit E36 Compact True Rear (part number I-79-ZX) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 3 Series E36 Compact (E36/5), model years 1994 to 2000, in True Rear version. The spring rate is 12 kg/mm front and 10 kg/mm rear.

This kit combines 3-way adjustable reservoir dampers with a True Rear rear axle. True Rear means that the separate rear spring and separate rear damper of the Compact make way for a complete strut, with the spring around the damper.

With that layout you set the rear ride height directly on the strut. The spring rate of 12/10 kg/mm is clearly stiffer than on the standard ZX for the Compact (6/8 kg/mm). Each damper has 20 clicks of low speed compression, 12 clicks of high speed compression and 30 clicks of rebound.

The ZX series combines the digressive DS tuning with the external reservoirs of the ER and is intended for competition, long track sessions and heavy drift use.

Fitting and delivery

At the rear the coilover strut replaces the separate spring and damper; at the front you replace the struts. Please note: BC Racing requires the body shell to be reinforced before fitting a True Rear kit. Decide beforehand where the reservoirs will go, have the kit fitted preferably by an experienced mechanic and after fitting have the wheel alignment and corner weights set by a specialist. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If the kit is not in stock, simply order it and we will keep you informed.
