The BC Racing ZR coilover kit M3 E92 EDC (part number I-13-ZR) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW M3 E90 and E92 with EDC (electronic damper control), model years 2006 to 2013; according to BC Racing, an EDC delete kit is required. The spring rate is 8 kg/mm front and 16 kg/mm rear.

The ZR is BC Racing’s kit for competitive motorsport. This version is intended for the M3 E90 and E92 with EDC and has springs of 8 kg/mm front and 16 kg/mm rear.

The dampers have a double piston and an external reservoir that you mount on the chassis or on the damper body, with braided steel lines. On MacPherson struts it is an inverted monotube, with double wishbones an upright monotube. You set the ride height completely independently of the spring preload. For the M3 with EDC, BC Racing specifies an EDC delete kit, which BC Racing does not sell.

Fitting and delivery

The kit is vehicle-specific and replaces the original EDC dampers and springs. We recommend having it fitted by a mechanic with experience of motorsport suspension, also for mounting the reservoirs and lines. Please note: according to BC Racing UK, an EDC delete kit is required on an M3 with EDC. BC Racing does not sell that kit; it is therefore not included with this coilover kit and must be purchased separately. BC Racing advises periodic greasing for the RM and ZR series and recommends them less for road use than the BR, DS, ER or ZX. After setting up, have the wheel alignment set again. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If BC Racing does not have the kit in stock, you can still order and we will keep you informed.

The ZR is intended for an M3 that is mainly driven on track or in competition. You get 3-way adjustment, reservoirs you can position as you choose and a ride height that is completely independent of the spring preload. For an M3 with EDC that is also driven a lot on the road, the BR, DS, ER or ZX is a better choice.

What is the difference between the BC Racing ZR and ZX coilover kits for the M3 E92 with EDC?

The ZR has springs of 8/16 kg/mm and reservoirs that can go on the chassis or the damper body; the ZX has 6/12 kg/mm. Both are 3-way with 20/12/30 clicks. The ZR is made for competitive motorsport and requires periodic greasing; the ZX is also intended for long sessions and drift.

Do I choose the BC Racing ZR kit I-13 or I-39 for my BMW M3 E90 or E92?

Choose based on the EDC: with electronic damper control it is the I-13-ZR plus an EDC delete kit, without EDC the I-39-ZR. Both have springs of 8/16 kg/mm. If your M3 has an EDC button on the centre console, EDC is usually fitted; if in doubt, contact us and we will check it with you.

Does BC Racing supply the EDC delete kit with the ZR coilover kit for the M3 with EDC?

No. BC Racing UK specifies the kit for the ZR coilover kit M3 E92 EDC, but BC Racing does not sell an EDC delete kit. So you purchase it separately.

Does the BC Racing ZR coilover kit I-13 fit the M3 Sedan, Coupe and Convertible?

Only the Sedan and Coupe. BC Racing releases the I-13-ZR for the M3 E90 Sedan (2006 to 2013) and M3 E92 Coupe (2007 to 2013) with EDC; the M3 Convertible E93 has separate kits.
