The DriftMax lock kit BMW E8X turns your 1 Series E81, E82, E87 or E88 into a serious drift car. The kit comes as a complete front axle: a reinforced steel subframe with relocated steering rack, knuckles, hubs with bearings, lower arms and tie rods. Good for up to 70° of steering angle, fully plug-and-play.

The steel subframe replaces the original aluminium subframe, which can crack over time under intensive use. At the same time, the subframe relocates the steering rack for more control and steering angle, with banana-style lower arms like the ones you know from the E30, E36 and E46. That layout is better suited to drifting.

The DriftMax knuckles put the roll centre of a lowered car back at its original height. As a result, the wheels stay parallel at full lock, with no Ackermann effect and less bump steer.

Installation and delivery

The kit goes under the car as a complete front axle: the steel subframe replaces the original one and takes the steering rack to its new position. You can keep using your original 300 or 330 mm brakes. For the shock absorbers you choose E36 coilovers, or you use E9X coilovers with the optional DriftMax knuckle adapters. No coilovers yet? When you order, you can choose the Versus Sport coilovers matched to this kit, with 16-way adjustable damping. If you already have Versus coilovers, add the E36 lower mounts in M55 to your order. After installation, the wheel alignment must be reset. The lock kit BMW E8X has a delivery time of 4 to 7 days; for the optional knuckle adapters the delivery time is up to 30 days.
