This big brake kit Golf 3 from V-Maxx is the 330 mm version for Volkswagens with PCD 4×100: the Golf III, the Golf IV Convertible, the Vento, the Corrado and the Passat 35i. The front axle gets 330 mm two-piece brake discs and 4-piston calipers made of forged aluminium, complete with sport brake pads and vehicle-specific adapters.

On the track, the braking power of the original brakes drops noticeably after a few hard stops. This kit gives the front axle more braking power and much less fade.

V-Maxx Autosport is a Dutch manufacturer and gives a 2-year warranty. With the TÜV certificate according to §19.3, the kit is approved for use on public roads.

Fitting and delivery

Fit the kit according to the V-Maxx fitting instructions supplied. The brake kit is only suitable for cars with original steering knuckles. Do not use wheel cleaner on the brake kit, as it attacks the aluminium; mild soap is sufficient. If you drive a lot and hard on the track, V-Maxx advises removing the dust seals from the calipers.

The kit can be extended with a different caliper colour (black, blue or yellow at extra cost), V-Maxx Steelflex steel braided brake hoses for the front axle (500 mm, set of 2, PTFE inner hose, with TÜV approval), Ferodo brake fluid (500 ml), a V-Maxx wear indicator set and an extra set of Ferodo FDSR216 DS Performance brake pads (without TÜV approval). Delivery time: 4 to 7 days.

Which version do I need?

First check the PCD. This kit is for 4×100; for 5×100 there is the 20 VW330 13, and for the Passat 35i with 5×100 without Plus chassis the 20 VW330 35. For the Golf III and Vento there is also a 290 mm kit: the 20 VW290 03, or the 20 VW290 03+AD including steering knuckles.

Does the big brake kit Golf 3 fit behind my wheels?

The big brake kit Golf 3 requires wheels of at least 17 inch. Check the fitment template (WFC) before you order; depending on the wheel, a wheel spacer is required.

Is the big brake kit Golf 3 suitable for a car with more power than standard?

Yes, definitely. A Golf III, Vento, Corrado or Passat with more power than standard benefits most from this kit: 330 mm discs and 4-piston calipers give more braking power and much less fade. The kW limits in the application list refer to the original factory output, and with an officially approved power upgrade the TÜV approval remains valid.

Does the kit fit a Golf III with rear drum brakes?

No. For the Golf III, Golf IV Convertible and Vento, the kit is only suitable for cars with original rear disc brakes.
