The AST Removable Half Roll Cage BMW F87 Coupé V1 is a half roll cage for the BMW 2 Series F87 with 2-door coupé bodywork. This removable half cage F87 Coupé V1 is the entry-level version of the range: a main hoop with backstays that occupies only the rear compartment and can be taken back out of the car once the foot plates have been fitted.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers who take their M2 to the track or drift venue but still want to use the car as normal on the road the rest of the time.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. Please note that the four foot plates do have to be welded to the bodyshell; only then is the cage bolted onto them. So allow for a welding workshop for the initial fitting. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that it fits your car exactly.

The lightest step towards a safe M2: a half roll cage you can simply lift back out after the season.

Why choose this removable half cage F87 Coupé V1?

The F87 is a short, stiff two-door that is put under considerable load on track and at drift events. A half roll cage in the rear gives you protection and rigidity where they pay off most, without sacrificing the entire interior. Because this version is removable, the car remains usable for the drive to the circuit and back.

Frequently asked questions

Does this cage also fit a BMW M2 convertible or a G87?

No. The removable half cage F87 Coupé V1 is designed exclusively for the two-door coupé of the F87. AST does not offer a convertible version for this model, and the successor, the G87, has its own cage that is not interchangeable with this one.

What exactly will I receive?

You receive the welded structure with connecting sleeves, the reinforcement plates, all bolts, washers and nuts, the documentation, the fitting instructions and a sticker set. The cage is supplied unpainted. No homologation number is listed for this product; always check the regulations of your own competition organiser before you enter.

How reliable is the fit?

AST scans the bodyshell of the F87 with laser scanners and designs the tubes and foot plates to match in 3D. So no universal parts are modified to fit; every part is designed for this car.

What if my car has a sunroof or headlining?

When ordering, please state whether your car has a sunroof and whether the headlining will stay in place, and AST will tailor the roll cage accordingly.

Where is the cage anchored at the rear?

You choose this yourself when ordering: in the rear suspension area or in the boot area. AST designs the foot plates and tube lengths for the chosen area.

What is the delivery time?
