The BC Racing BR coilover kit E36 Compact (part number I-25-BR-RA) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 3 Series E36 Compact (E36/5), model years 1993 to 2000. The spring rate is 6 kg/mm front and 8 kg/mm rear.

It is BC Racing’s all-round choice. The BR series is intended for cars that are simply driven every day and also do the occasional track day or autocross. You get a lower, tighter and more controllable suspension, without the car becoming unusable on poor roads.

This is the standard version for the Compact: complete coilover struts go in at the front, while at the rear the layout with a separate spring and a separate damper is retained, just as from the factory. The monotube dampers have a linear piston and are adjusted in 30 clicks, with compression and rebound changing together.

The spring rate is 6/8 kg/mm. You set the ride height via the damper body, independently of the spring preload, so you can run low without giving away damper stroke.

Fitting and delivery

At the front you replace the complete struts, at the rear the damper and the spring. After fitting, first set the desired ride height, drive a few kilometres and then check that everything is properly tightened. Then have the wheel alignment set, because camber and toe change along with the height. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock.
