The BC Racing BR coilover kit E46 True Rear (part number I-31-BR-RH) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 3 Series E46 Sedan, Coupe and Touring with rear-wheel drive, model years 1998 to 2006, in True Rear version. The spring rate is 6 kg/mm front and 5 kg/mm rear.

It is the all-round BC Racing kit with a complete strut on the rear axle, intended for anyone who uses their E46 every day and occasionally takes it to a track day or autocross.

What does True Rear mean? From the factory, the E46 has a separate spring and a separate damper at the rear, each in its own place. With this version that separate spring disappears and, just like at the front, you get a complete strut at the rear: the spring sits around the damper. As a result, you also set the ride height at the rear on the damper body. The standard kits without True Rear (part number I-02) keep the original rear layout with separate spring and damper.

The BR series works with monotube dampers and a linear piston, 30 clicks of damping adjustment and a ride height that is fully adjustable independently of the spring preload. The spring rate is 6/5 kg/mm.

Fitting and delivery

At the front the kit replaces the original struts; at the rear the separate spring and the separate damper are replaced by one coilover. Please note: BC Racing specifies that the body shell must be reinforced before fitting a True Rear kit. Have a wheel alignment done on the E46 after setting the ride height. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If the kit is temporarily out of stock, you can still order and we will keep you informed.

A separate rear spring is often the weak point on a lowered E46; with True Rear you adjust the front and rear in the same way.
