The BC Racing BR coilover kit E87 E82 (part number I-11-BR-RA) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 1 Series E81, E82 and E87, excluding the 1M Coupe, model years 2004 to 2013. The spring rate is 5.5 kg/mm front and 8 kg/mm rear.

With the BR series, BC Racing turns the 1 Series into a tight and easily adjustable car for the road that can also handle a track day or autocross. The kit fits the E81 and E87 hatchback and the E82 Coupe, with the exception of the 1M Coupe.

You get monotube dampers with a linear piston, 30 clicks to adjust the damping and a ride height that you set via the damper body, independent of the spring preload. With 5.5 kg/mm front and 8 kg/mm rear, the 1 Series remains perfectly usable in everyday traffic.

Fitting and delivery

The kit is vehicle-specific and replaces the original dampers and springs. We recommend having it fitted by an experienced mechanic. On some cars the pillowball top mount at the front requires a small modification to the upper mounting; if in doubt, contact us. After lowering, have the wheel alignment set again, because camber and toe move with the ride height. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If BC Racing temporarily has the kit sold out, you can still order and we will give you the expected delivery date.

Does the BC Racing BR coilover kit I-11 also fit the BMW E88 Convertible or the 1M Coupe?

No. BC Racing releases this kit for the 1 Series E81, E87 and E82 Coupe, but not for the 1M Coupe and not for the E88 Convertible. For the E88 Convertible there is the BR kit I-149-BR-RA and for the 1M Coupe the kits starting with I-21.

What is the difference between the BC Racing BR and DS coilover kits for the BMW 1 Series E87?

The BR has a linear piston and is made for the road with the occasional track day; the DS has a digressive piston, damps more firmly at slow movements and is more focused on the track. Both have 5.5/8 kg/mm springs. For a 1 Series that is mainly driven on the road, the BR coilover kit E87 E82 is the logical choice.

Is the BC Racing BR coilover kit for the BMW E87 also available in a True Rear version?

Yes, for the E87 there is the BR kit I-169-BR-RH, which also has a strut at the rear with the spring around the damper. For that True Rear kit, BC Racing specifies that the body shell must be reinforced first. With this I-11 kit, spring and damper remain separate at the rear, as from the factory.
