The BC Racing RM coilover kit E46 M3 True Rear (part number I-64-RM-MA) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW E46 M3, model years 2000 to 2006, in True Rear version. The spring rate is 8 kg/mm front and 12 kg/mm rear.

This inverted track kit combines two things: an inverted damper on the MacPherson front axle and a complete strut at the rear. From the factory, the E46 has a separate spring and a separate damper at the rear; with True Rear the spring sits around the damper, so you have a complete strut at the rear.

The RM series is made for track days, hill climbs and tarmac rally. At the front, the inverted monotube provides a stiffer strut under high cornering loads. At the rear, where the E46 does not have MacPherson suspension, BC Racing uses an upright monotube with a linear piston.

The spring rate is 8/12 kg/mm. The damping is digressive and you adjust it in 30 clicks, compression and rebound together, with fully synthetic oil with an ultra-high viscosity index in the dampers.

Fitting and delivery

You replace the struts front and rear; at the rear, the separate spring and damper make way for the True Rear coilover. Please note: BC Racing specifies that the body shell must be reinforced before fitting a True Rear kit. After fitting, set the ride height, check the tyre clearance at full steering lock and then have the M3’s wheel alignment done. BC Racing advises periodic greasing of the RM series and recommends it less for road use than the BR, DS, ER or ZX. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If the kit is not in stock, you can still order and we will keep you informed.

An M3 with a stiff inverted front strut and a complete strut at the rear can be balanced from front to rear on track.
