Description
BC Racing ZR coilover kit BMW M3 E46 Convertible (00-06) 6/9 kg/mm
The BC Racing ZR coilover kit E46 M3 Convertible (part number I-121-ZR) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW E46 M3 Convertible, model years 2000 to 2006. The spring rate is 6 kg/mm front and 9 kg/mm rear.
The ZR is the series that BC Racing develops for competitive motorsport, with 3-way adjustment and an external reservoir per damper.
You can mount the reservoir on the chassis or on the damper body, and it is connected to the damper via braided steel lines. MacPherson struts get an inverted monotube, double wishbones an upright monotube, each with a dual piston. The damping is digressive and filled with synthetic oil.
You adjust 20 clicks of low-speed compression, 12 clicks of high-speed compression and 30 clicks of rebound. The spring rate is 6/9 kg/mm and you set the ride height fully independently of the spring preload.
Key benefits
- 3-way adjustment: 20 + 12 + 30 clicks for compression and rebound.
- Reservoir on chassis or damper body: positioning of your choice.
- Braided steel lines: between damper and reservoir.
- Dual piston: a wide adjustment range.
- Inverted monotube on MacPherson: stiff under high loads.
- Ride height fully independent of spring preload: drive low with full stroke.
- Synthetic oil: consistent behaviour over an entire session.
- Spring rate 6/9 kg/mm: as BC Racing supplies it for the M3 Convertible.
- Rebuildable: suitable for intensive use.

Fitting and delivery
Before fitting, choose whether to place the reservoirs on the chassis or on the damper body, and route the lines so that they stay clear during suspension travel and steering. After setting the ride height, a wheel alignment is required. BC Racing advises periodic greasing of the ZR series and recommends it less for road use than the BR, DS, ER or ZX. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. No stock at the manufacturer? You can still order, and we will let you know when it arrives.
For anyone using an M3 Convertible in competition, the ZR is the 3-way competition kit from BC Racing, with a reservoir on the chassis or damper body.
Why choose this ZR coilover kit E46 M3 Convertible?
Because the ZR gives you control in every area: three damping adjustments, a freely positionable reservoir and a ride height that is fully independent of the springs. For an open-top M3 being built up as a competition car, it lets you adjust low-speed and high-speed compression and rebound each separately.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the BC Racing ZR and HM for the E46 M3 Convertible?
