Description
BMW E36 Saloon Aluminium Door Panels, Lightweight, Race Rally Drift
With these E36 saloon aluminium door panels you swap the original trim of the front doors for clean sheets of 1 mm aluminium. Each panel weighs approximately 1.2 kg and you get a pair, for left and right. The panels are CNC-cut and powder-coated on one side.
For a four-door E36 that is being built as a drift, rally or track car, this is a logical step: less weight, a tidy interior and, with laminate doors, extra stiffness in the door.

Installation and delivery
You choose the fastening method yourself, but rivets give the best result. Remove the old door trim and any insulation, place the panel on the door and mark the holes. Pre-drill them with a small drill bit and treat the edges against rust. Then fix the panel with rivets.
If you are fitting E36 saloon aluminium door panels in a rally car, also check that the panels do not get in the way of the roll cage or the door bars. Before drilling, check that there is no window mechanism or lock rod running behind the spot of the hole. According to the manufacturer, the example photo shows an E36 Coupé; the panels supplied are intended for the front doors of the saloon.
You will find all door panels in the range in the door panels category. If you drive a three-door, take a look at the door panels for the E36 Compact.

Less weight in the doors, more focus on driving.
Why choose these E36 saloon aluminium door panels?
The original door trim of an E36 saloon is heavy and gets damaged quickly. E36 saloon aluminium door panels weigh little, are easy to keep clean and give the interior a real motorsport look. The coated side keeps everything looking clean, and if you use laminate doors, you gain stiffness.
Frequently asked questions
Are these panels for the front or rear doors?
These E36 saloon aluminium door panels are for the front doors. For the rear doors you need separate panels.
How many panels are in an order?
You receive a pair: one panel for the left and one for the right.
How heavy are the panels?
Each panel weighs approximately 1.2 kg. They are made of 1 mm aluminium.
How do I attach them?
That is up to you. Rivets are recommended, because they hold firmly and do not rattle loose through vibration.
Do the E36 saloon aluminium door panels have a stiffening function?
Yes, with laminate doors. The aluminium panel makes such a light door stiffer. With the original steel door, the function is mainly cosmetic and weight-saving.
Are they coated on both sides?
No, only on one side. You mount that side on the inside of the car, so that it is visible.
Is this suitable for a road car?
The panels are made for motorsport. Whether they are permitted in a road-registered car depends on the inspection rules where you drive.
Do they also fit an E36 coupé?
No, this set is for the saloon. The coupé has different doors and there are separate panels for it.
