The BC Racing RM coilover kit E46 M3 (part number I-14-RM-MA) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW E46 M3 Coupe, model years 2000 to 2006. The spring rate is 6 kg/mm front and 9 kg/mm rear.

It is BC Racing’s inverted kit, made for track days, hill climbs and tarmac rally. Where the BR and DS use an upright damper, this kit has an inverted monotube on the MacPherson front axle: the wide damper body at the top, the piston rod at the bottom.

On suspensions that do not work on the MacPherson principle, BC Racing uses an upright monotube with a linear piston within the RM series. The damping itself is digressive and you adjust it in 30 clicks, compression and rebound together. The dampers contain fully synthetic oil with an ultra-high viscosity index.

This version for the M3 Coupe comes with central top mounts. The spring rate is 6/9 kg/mm front/rear and the ride height is infinitely adjustable via the damper body.

Fitting and delivery

The kit is vehicle-specific and replaces the original dampers and springs. Fit the kit, set the car to the desired height and check at full steering lock that the tyres do not rub anywhere. A wheel alignment then follows, because camber and toe shift as well. BC Racing advises periodic greasing of the RM series and recommends it less for road use than the BR, DS, ER or ZX.
