The BC Racing DS coilover kit E36 True Rear (part number I-30-DS-DH) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 3 Series E36 Sedan, Coupe, Convertible and Touring, model years 1992 to 1998, in True Rear version. The spring rate is 6 kg/mm front and 5 kg/mm rear.

With this kit you turn your E36 into a car that is ready for the track and for drifting. The difference from a regular E36 coilover kit is at the rear: instead of the separate spring and separate damper from the factory, you get a complete strut, with the spring around the damper.

The DS series is BC Racing’s track-focused monotube range with a digressive piston. It provides extra damping force at low piston speeds of 0 to 50 mm/s, exactly where body roll, dive and squat under acceleration occur. Fast impacts from kerbs and joints, on the other hand, come through less harshly.

The spring rate is 6/5 kg/mm and you adjust the damping in 30 clicks. You set the ride height via the damper body, independently of the spring preload, and thanks to True Rear now also at the rear.

Fitting and delivery

The kit replaces the original suspension all round; at the rear the separate spring and damper are removed and the coilover takes their place. We recommend having it fitted by an experienced mechanic. Please note: BC Racing specifies that the body shell must be reinforced before fitting a True Rear kit. First set the height and then have the wheel alignment done, because camber and toe change as well. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If the manufacturer is temporarily out of stock, you can still order and we will keep you informed of the date.

Digressive damping keeps the E36 flat on turn-in, and True Rear finally gives you the same coilover at the rear as at the front.
